FIGMENT Festival Day 1

Created by one of our visitorsIt was a sketchy looking morning.  New York's been experiencing torrential downpours with crazy lightening storms.  When my dog (the wonderful, Ollie, if you don't know him) woke me at 1:40 by jumping on the bed, I knew Thor was up there with his hammer once again.

By 7am, the rain had subsided slightly but the fog was pea-soup thick.  Nevertheless, we put together our supplies and hopped on the ferry.  The MPL Project will always have fun no matter the weather. Luck however (and our manifesting power) was in our favor.  By the time we found our spot the fog had lifted.  As we set up the skeleton for the Mass Manifesting Mobile we began to truly enjoy the project.  After talking about it for weeks, it was finally coming together.

By noon the sun was out, the breeze was blowing and an opera company was performing down the lane (providing a beautiful soundtrack).  By 1pm the ferry started bringing our first round of visitors.  They created beautiful pieces for the mobile.  It's really taking shape.  I can't wait for tomorrow, to see how it comes together for the second day.

You can see photos from today's event here.

Countdown to Figment

The Governor's Island Figment Festival is rapidly becoming a summer opening event.

The island is filled with music, activities, sculpture and art of all kinds.  Housed in and surrounding buildings built 200 years ago, there is a lot of interaction. It's a park with fantastic views of New York Harbor, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.  It's also free ... completely free, even the ferry ride is free.  And who doesn't like a Ferry ride.

When you arrive at FIGMENT, you'll have the opportunity to experience 400 art pieces, projects, and performances... with only one common theme: you are asked to participate, create, and engage!

Salvage by Abby Goodman Cindy Stockton Moore
FIGMENT is absolutely free to the public, rain or shine, and will be open:

Friday, June 12: 10 am - 5 pm
Saturday, June 13: 10 am - 7 pm

..in addition, the City of Dreams will be open on weekends until mid-October with a large-scale interactive sculpture garden and an artistic mini-golf course.

Here are some quick links for you:
Getting There: Governors Island is easy to reach from both lower Manhattan and Brooklyn's Fulton Ferry Landing. The ferry is free, fast, and runs frequently!

Map, Schedule, Projects, & Artists: An amazing amount of music, events, family and children activities.  Everything from yoga to coloring. And the amazing art!

The MPL Project will be there so you can help us build a Mass Manifesting Mobile!  Stop by and add your creativity to this project.

Life Comes Effortlessly

Part of contribution to the MPL Project is blog writing.  This excites me to no end.  With the new blog I have a different voice, it gives me something different to think about. I'm not only expanding my creativity working with these phenomenal painters, but also understanding where creative energy comes from and how it is nurtured.

You can read my latest post on the MPL Project website.
