Interview with Lumete

Anyone who has known me for any period of time knows that I love to indulge in accessories.  Nothing dresses up a simple outfit more than a few choice pieces of jewelry, or perfectly hung scarf.  Outerwear is my focus for the winter, so during this season I focus on the items you see outside of my coat.  Hand bags, gloves, hats all become so important. Boots keep the chill and damp away from my delicate feet.  And sunglasses keep the sun out of my eyes as it reflects off the snow.

Fashion's Night Out & Lumete Eyewear

I consider myself "stylish" - I like to think I dress with my unique style, I like clothing and accessories and occasionally flip through a fashion magazine, perhaps "fashion conscious" is the more up-to-date phrase.  I have never had any desire to attend fashion week, or any kind of fashion event.  But this year something has caught my attention.

In it's second year, Fashion's Night Out is hosting an evening of events on Friday, September 10th.  Taking place in New York and twelve other cities around the world, it will be an evening that celebrates style.  New York and Brooklyn is already a buzz with activity.  What's unique about this event, is that it includes smaller designers and boutiques to participate.  Instead of trying to get a spot under the big tent, the tent has expanded to include everyone.   Stores will be open late, new pop-up locations will open and there will be performances. 

What I'm really looking forward to is the Lumete launch.  This eyewear company includes designs with a funky style.  They are spanking new to the fashion scene.  It will be great to see them grow.

Lumete eyewear: My new favorite site

Lumete eye wear is the brain-child of Barbara Warren and Clara Herrera.  Over a year ago, they decided that it was time create eye wear that appealed to their sensibilities.  Highly fashionable and creatively inventive, their sunglass collection is whimsical while sophisticated, with a bit of a punk rock edge.  Put on a pair of their shades and you will instantly feel glamorous.

I have been lucky enough to see the creative process and the birth of the line from concept to final product. And I must say that I'm impressed.  Just time for summer, they have launched the Lumete online store.  Check out the site, their designs and pick up a pair.  Afer all, July is UV Awareness month.
