Take A Moment

The beautiful thing about the summer is that there's just so much to do.  The city's alive with free concerts, outdoor art, open-air markets, bar-b-q's and picnics.    I find myself thinking "Thursday I'm meeting so-and-so, Saturday is that party, the following weekend is out of town ...."  It's exciting. But sometimes I feel that the scheduling causes the weeks to fly.  There's always something coming up, to plan for.

Subsequently days are frequently started with a mental to-do list.  Certain tasks need to be accomplished before embarking on the scheduled event.  This causes a little tension.  Looking at the clock, crossing things off the list and then running out the door.  It can be overwhelming, and frustrating.  There's always so much that needs to be done, it's important to prioritize.

In the midst of the beautiful summer remember to slow down, make it a top priority.  Take time to stroll.  Look at the buildings around you.  Notice the color of the leaves, the flowers in bloom.  Feel the breeze as it blows.  These are very temporal joys.  Ever changing, every moment invokes a different experience.  Just as going to the gym is good for the body, taking that moment allows you to flex your senses.

There's beauty everywhere around you.  Think how much better your day is when you take a moment to notice it.
